Ray Acevedo-USA TODAY Sports

Women’s sports are undergoing a massive transformation at the hands of two college basketball players. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are at the forefront of that change, taking their rivalry to bring in unprecedented fame and fan following for women’s basketball. However, the media tried to bring in a narrative about potential hate between them. Both have denied any animosity between them, bringing out praise from Megan Rapinoe for the way they have handled the media.

The media tried asking Angel Reese if she had any hatred towards Caitlin Clark, to which she denied. She mentioned that on the court they are fierce competitors, but that does not mean they have any hatred towards each other. The New York Post captured the former USWNT star and two-time World Cup winner’s post on social media.

She added a laughing emoji to suggest that Reese and Clark know how to respond to the media and not get swayed by their narratives. After all, the media will try to coax something out of them which can hamper whatever they have built.

Rapinoe’s appreciation stems from the fact that the media will try their best to bring out the next breaking storyline. However, keeping their heads level and answering in a way to not disrespect their compatriots will only go on to further their positive impact.

Megan Rapinoe‘s angel emoji suggested that Reese and Clark know their roles in the development of women’s sports. They have come a long way to change the fan following women are garnering. Hence making a positive impact is the only way forward.

Megan Rapinoe loves how Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are creative waves in women’s sports

Megan Rapinoe and her other female compatriots were trying to make their names in a male-dominated sports world. In those times, neither the fan following, nor the media attention was enough to help their voices to be heard. Now with the way Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are establishing themselves, both fans as well as the media cannot help but toe their line of fame.

The two have swung the world’s attention onto the women’s game. Reports suggest that the NCAA Women’s college basketball games have more viewership records than the men’s games. It speaks volumes of how the narrative has changed after decades of domination by the men’s game.

To keep this momentum going, both college stars and their fellow competitors have to imbibe incredible presence of mind. Else, they will be dragged into unnecessary narratives which Megan Rapinoe is pointing at.
