Empoli striker M’Baye Niang was involved in a car crash last night in the Tuscany city, luckily avoiding any serious injuries.

On February 20th, the former Milan striker crashed his Mercedes SUV into a few parked cars in the early hours of the morning after returning from a religious gathering. He was taken to hospital but was mostly unharmed, taking to the pitch four days later in a Serie A clash with Sassuolo, where he scored.

Niang spent the first half of this season with Adana Demirspor before returning to Serie A at the end of the January transfer window, joining Empoli in a deal worth around €250,000, putting pen to paper on a six-month contract.

Niang car crash

As detailed by La Nazione via Calciomercato.com, at around 7:30pm local time on Monday evening, Niang was in an SUV which crashed into two parked vehicles, damaging another car and a van. The incident occurred near the Shalom theatre in Empoli.

Whilst details on the situation are light, no ambulances were sent to the scene and there were no major injuries. It’s still unclear if the 29-year-old striker was behind the wheel of the car or simply a passenger.
