Former NHL center Mike Ribeiro has been charged with sexual assault, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.

Ribeiro, 42, was indicted on two counts of sexual assault on April 13th in Franklin County, Texas, an area located 100 miles east of Dallas.

According to The Dallas Morning News citing indictments, Ribeiro is accused of sexually assaulting two women on June 23, 2021 — one woman with his finger, and another with his “sexual organ.” He was reportedly arrested on April 28th and released on $200,000 bond the same day.

The Dallas Morning News reported Ribeiro has lakefront property in Mount Vernon in Franklin County and is a Tennessee resident.

Ribiero and his wife were sued in 2015 by a former nanny who alleged he sexually assaulted her in 2012. The lawsuit alleged the nanny, who was 18 at the time, was sexually assaulted by Ribeiro while sleeping in the basement with two of Ribeiro’s children. Other allegations were levied in the lawsuit including Ribeiro having inappropriately grabbed her leg, or touched her backside, or made her feel uncomfortable.

After eight hours of mediation, the lawsuit was settled. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Ribeiro was drafted in the second round of the 1998 draft and played 17 years in the NHL with the Dallas Stars, Nashville Predators, Montreal Canadiens, Washington Capitals and Phoenix Coyotes.
