Bruins Sign Deal with James van Riemsdyk: 1-Year, $1 Million

Van Riemsdyk brings experience as a middle-six winger and offers versatility to the Bruins’ forward group. Signing him to a one-year, $1 million deal provides the Bruins with an affordable option to bolster their middle-six winger depth.

Selected as the second overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, van Riemsdyk signed his three-year entry-level contract in 2009 and later inked a six-year deal worth $25 million in 2011. He was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs as his new contract took effect and spent the entirety of his contract with the Leafs. In the summer of 2018, van Riemsdyk returned to the Philadelphia Flyers, signing a five-year contract worth $35 million.
