Giants OL apologizes to fans after calling them 'sheep'

New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal apologized to fans on Wednesday night, hours after blasting the supposed "bandwagoners" for being "sheep," among other things.

Neal is a part of New York's much-maligned offensive line that has allowed quarterback Daniel Jones to be sacked a whopping 22 times through four games this season, which is second highest in the NFL. New York is 1-3 and has been outscored 122 to 46 for a net total of -76, which is the worst in the league.

The 2022 seventh overall draft pick and the rest of the line saw Jones go down seven times in the season-opening embarrassment against the Dallas Cowboys (a 40-0 home loss) and surrendered 10 sacks in the 24-3 home defeat against the Seahawks on "Monday Night Football" in Week 4. The 10 takedowns were the most that Danny Dimes has faced in his four-plus seasons.

The Giants offense has failed to score a touchdown through two home games thus far, and New York has been outscored at MetLife Stadium 64-3.

Neal played and started in 13 contests as a rookie, missing four games due to a MCL sprain. He was called for six penalties, all of which were false starts.

Through the first quarter of the 2023 campaign, Neal has been penalized twice, once for holding and once for a false start.

New York will travel to face the Miami Dolphins in Week 5 at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Miami ranks in the middle of the pack for team sacks (10), led by fifth-year linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, who has three on the season. Van Ginkel picked up two sacks in the Dolphins' Week 4 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
