Sam Presti to Host Media Availability to Kickstart Preseason
USA TODAY Sports

Things are slowly approaching toward the 2023-24 season for NBA basketball, meaning that many questions will be answered in the coming months.

Oklahoma City General Manager Sam Presti will truly kickstart the beginning of this promising year for the Thunder, as he’ll conduct his preseason media availability on Wednesday at 10 a.m. CT., which can be watched on the Thunder's app and website.

The Thunder’s preseason schedule will first see them face off against the San Antonio Spurs on Oct. 9 in Paycom Center. They’ll then go on to match up with the Detroit Pistons twice, Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks through Oct. 19.

Following that, Oklahoma City will begin its season in Chicago, facing off against a 10th seeded Bulls team from last season.

As the team enters into a still explorative yet progressional year, there will be a lot of questions thrown Presti’s way about the prospects he’s accumulated throughout the offseason. Vasilije Micic, Cason Wallace, Chet Holmgren, all rookies who will have to be introduced in the lineup along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams.

And of course, you still have Ousmane Dieng who will receive some playing time, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, Kenrich Williams, Jaylin Williams and more.

It’ll certainly be interesting to track Presti’s impression of all of the second unit players throughout camp and heading into the preseason.

What will more than likely be the most asked question to Presti Wednesday morning, though, will be centered around the city’s proposal to publicly fund a new arena to keep the Thunder franchise in Oklahoma City until 2050.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt just signed the letter of intent on Tuesday, setting it to election on Dec. 12.

With his media availability just a day later, the thoughts from Presti will be fresh. He’s built a connection with this city since its inaugural season in 2008-09, so his insight toward the relationship between the team and the city will be as impactful as anyone’s.
