Report: Celtics among teams to attend John Wall's private workout

The Boston Celtics may not have a clear-cut answer for who'll replace Marcus Smart following the trade which brought Kristaps Porzingis to town, but if they're looking for experience, John Wall seems to be ready to roll. 

Wall, who held a private workout for teams in Las Vegas on Sunday during the 2023 NBA Summer League, was the first of multiple players who opted to hold a workout.

In attendance for that workout? Although the full list hasn't been revealed yet, The Athletic's Kelly Iko reported the Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers opted to see how Wall looked.

Obviously, there's nothing that points to either team showing interest in potentially adding Wall, but the move could make sense for Boston. 

Wall, 32, played in 34 games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 11.4 points, 5.2 assists and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 40.8% from the field. He saw just 22.2 minutes per game, but certainly showed flashes of his playmaking ability and the fact he has plenty left in the tank.

Wall was not on a roster for the 2021-22 season, but the year prior played in 40 games for the Houston Rockets and had a solid year statistically. 

He logged 32.2 minutes per game over that stretch, posting marks of 20.6 points, 6.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game while shooting 40.4% from the field.

It'll be worth monitoring what other teams were in attendance for Wall's workout, but even more interesting to keep an eye on if his showing is enough to land him on a roster ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
