Goran Dragic has announced his retirement from the NBA after playing in 15 seasons, and for the Slovenian hero’s send-off, there will be a star-studded ‘farewell event’ held in Ljubljana on Aug. 23 and 24.

The event will be headlined by some of the brightest stars in the game, including Dallas Mavericks star and Dragic’s longtime Slovenian teammate Luka Doncic, Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo and Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic.

"I wanted to bring all the stars I played with," Dragic told Sport Klub on Thursday when the event was announced.

"A lot, man," Doncic said when asked about how much Dragic means to him. "Obviously, the most amazing journey I had with him was the EuroBasketball medal. It was an amazing run for him. And I'm just glad I know him. I'm glad I played with him. And I learned actually about leadership in that tournament. He taught me a lot."

Dragic was always like a big brother to Doncic while he was growing into the superstar he is today. With Dragic not playing in the FIBA World Cup last summer, it was Doncic who took over as the undisputed leader of the Slovenian national team. DallasBasketball.com will have full coverage of Dragic’s farewell event with Doncic in attendance when it commences.
