The Oklahoma City Thunder are acquiring veteran forward Gordon Hayward in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets, per NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic.
In exchange, the Hornets will receive point guard Tre Mann and other salaries to match, Charania noted.
Hayward, 33, is averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists, shooting 47 percent from the field and 36 percent on 3-pointers. He is in the final year of a contract that is paying him $31.5 million.
But it’s another lost season for Charlotte (10-40), which was aiming to move Hayward and still could trade several others.
Mann, 23, has appeared in 13 games and is averaging 3.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists, shooting 52 percent from the field and 42 percent on threes.
Oklahoma City (35-16) is tied with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets atop the Western Conference standings, with the Los Angeles Clippers just a half-game behind those three.
Hornets are expected to acquire a package centered around Tre Mann and salaries, sources said. Mann, a 2021 first-round pick, has upside as a talented young guard. https://t.co/sjEmDORN5n
