Hornets talking to teams about Kyle Lowry, Gordon Hayward
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Charlotte Hornets have been engaged with multiple teams in an effort to trade point guard Kyle Lowry and his expiring $29.7 million contract, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.

Lowry was acquired by the Hornets in the Terry Rozier trade with the Miami Heat a couple weeks ago.

Along with that, the Hornets have been talking to teams about forward Gordon Hayward, per Stein. Should Hayward’s $31.5 million deal remain on the roster beyond Thursday’s trade deadline, a buyout would be unlikely, Stein added.

In fact, there’s a possibility that Charlotte could re-sign Hayward after the season as a free agent.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers are considered teams that would make a run at Lowry if he agrees to a buyout.
