Watch: Manager Aaron Boone slams podium in disgust after Yankees' third-straight loss

While the New York Yankees have remained atop the AL East since the opening month of the season, the last month and a half has been a disaster for the men wearing pinstripes.

After a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, the Yankees have dropped 25 of their last 26 games.

After a third consecutive loss at home on Saturday, frustrations got the best of manager Aaron Boone while meeting with reporters.

"We gotta play better, period. And the great thing is, it's right in front of us," Boone said before slamming his hand aggressively on the podium. "It's right here. And we can fix it. It's there, and we can run away with this thing and we have the dudes in there to do it."

Boone's latest outburst comes just a day after he claimed the team "should be ticked off" due to their recent play.

While the Yankees have shown no signs of breaking out of their current funk, Boone reminded everyone that they control their destiny.

"The good thing is, we are in first place," Boone said. "We get to write the script the rest of the way. No one else can get in our way if we go play our game, and that's what we gotta do. We have to stop talking about it, we gotta go do it."

The Yankees' formidable offense has been anything but lately.

Shutout in three of their last seven games, the Yankees have managed only 14 runs over that stretch, with eight of them coming in a walk-off victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.

Once up by 15.5 games in the division, the Yankees have seen that lead shrink in half; the Blue Jays trail by seven games in the AL East

Meanwhile, the Yankees are now four games behind the Houston Astros (77-44) for the best record in the American League.
