Report: Rockies pad out bullpen with former AL saves leader
Brad Hand Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

A former All-Star reliever will attempt to make it at Coors Field.

Ken Rosenthal of 'The Athletic' reported Saturday that the Colorado Rockies are signing veteran left-hander Brad Hand to a one-year contract worth $2 million.

Hand, 32, led the AL in saves as a member of the then-Cleveland Indians in 2020 and has been named an All-Star three times in his big league career. Since being released by Cleveland, Hand has bounced around numerous MLB teams, with the Rockies to be his fifth different club in the span of just over two years.

Former second-round pick Hand might not have found a permanent home since leaving Cleveland, but he still seems to have some life left in his arm. Most recently, he served as a useful bullpen option for the Phillies last summer, posting a 2.80 ERA over 55 total relief appearances.
