Phillies Analyst Highlights The Dominance Of Aaron Nola

The Philadelphia Phillies are postseason bound for the first time since 2011.

With a 3-0 win in Houston last night, they assured themselves of at least the third Wild Card spot in the National League.

If they earn that spot, they’ll head to St. Louis for the Wild Card series.

But regardless of who they play, they’ll have their two aces in the first two games.

Speaking of their two aces, Aaron Nola is one who has had a fantastic season to date.

The 29-year-old right-hander owns a record of 11-13 and has posted a 3.25 ERA.

Somehow, Nola has flown under the radar this year, and one Phillies insider on Twitter points out just why he may be slightly underrated.

Nola’s Impact On Phils

This Phillies’ insider puts together a pretty compelling argument for why Nola has flown under the radar.

205 innings pitched, 235 strikeouts, a .096 WHIP, and a 2.58 FIP can attest to that.

The Phillies will be going with one of him or Zack Wheeler in Game 1.

You really can’t go wrong with either one.

Either way, you’re going to have an experienced starter ready to go for a postseason game and ready to give you the innings you need.

Nola clearly has played a key role in the Phillies ending their postseason drought.

He’s been able to give them some much-needed innings coverage, strike out hitters, and keep the Phillies in ballgames.

There’s a lot to look forward to with Nola, and he’d be a great choice to start Game 1, whether it’s in St. Louis, New York, or Atlanta.

He’s a veteran guy that’s itching to taste the postseason for the first time in his career and will have that chance soon.
