Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski stays true to his roots at Red Sox game on Marathon Monday
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

Rob Gronkowski always knows how to celebrate the best moments. So when he was announced as the grand marshal for the 2024 Boston Marathon, everyone know it was going to be memorable.

And he did not disappoint.

Specifically, Gronkowski was tasked with throwing out the first pitch at the Red Sox game on Monday. But he couldn't just do it in a traditional way. He had to add his own flare.

Instead of throwing it across the plate, Gronkowski spiked the ball. It was reminiscent of his favorite and iconic football celebration.

After seeing the video, two other Patriots legends commented on this moment.

"Careful @Gronk we don't need another earthquake," Julian Edelman wrote on his Instagram story.

Tom Brady had something to say too.

"Love seeing that Gronk Spike!!!! ," Tom Brady commented to Gronkowski's video.

And this wasn't the only time he spiked a ball during the day. At the finish line, Gronkowski did it too.

He sure had a good time and proved to be the perfect fit for this sunny Marathon Monday.
