MLB best bets, strikeout props for Thursday 9/7: E-Rod to handcuff Yanks

A 1-2 mark on Wednesday night killed the momentum we built earlier in the week, but we're still 5-3 in strikeout props through three days and on pace for our fourth winning week in a row. Let's get back on track with my three favorite K props for Thursday's MLB slate.

Ryan Pepiot under 4.5 Ks (-105 DraftKings)

Ryan Pepiot made his season debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers last month, and he's been impressive in three appearances. The 26-year-old has given up just two earned runs and racked up 14 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. Despite his early success, Pepiot could easily struggle Thursday night against a Miami Marlins lineup that's recorded the lowest strikeout rate in MLB over the last week (15.68 percent). Let's roll with the under.

Eduardo Rodriguez over 5.5 Ks (-106 FanDuel)

The New York Yankees have been perfect fade material in the strikeout prop market of late. New York has struck out 132 times over the last 15 days, which is the most in MLB over that span. The Yankees have also recorded a 25.58 percent strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season, and they should struggle against Detroit Tigers lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in three of his last four starts, and his only under came against the red-hot Houston Astros. This is a great matchup for E-Rod.

Ryne Nelson under 3.5 Ks (112 FD)

Ryne Nelson isn't much of a strikeout artist, as he's gone under 3.5 strikeouts in five of his last seven starts. The Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander also got shelled in his last two starts for 15 combined hits and 12 combined runs. It doesn't get any easier for Nelson Thursday night, either. The Chicago Cubs have scored 6.86 runs per game over the last week. Chicago is a middle-of-the-pack team in terms of strikeout rate this season, but this lineup has enough firepower to chase Nelson early.
