Kike Hernandez has harsh words about Dodgers after being swept

The Los Angeles Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday night, and Kike Hernandez did not hold back when talking about his team getting swept.

Hernandez, who was inserted into the starting lineup for Game 3 of the NLDS between his Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, said that getting swept — and the way they lost — was embarrassing.

“We were embarrassed,” Hernandez said.

If the Dodgers were embarrassed, it wasn’t really because of Hernandez. Though he went 0-for-2 in Game 1, he was 1-for-2 with an RBI in Game 2, and he went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Game 3. He batted .375 in the postseason.

The big issue for the Dodgers — aside from their starting pitching — was Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman turning into pumpkins. The two Dodgers stars, who will both finish high in NL MVP voting, combined to go 1-for-21 in the series sweep against Arizona.

The Dodgers never held a lead in the series, and it’s not hard to see why.

Meanwhile, Arizona absolutely mashed. They slugged nine home runs in the three games. They jumped all over Clayton Kershaw in Game 1, and it was all downhill from there. Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly and Brandon Pfaadt all gave Arizona quality innings to start the games. They punctuated things with a postseason record four home runs in the same inning against Lance Lynn in Game 3.

The Dodgers won 100 games in the regular season. They way they went out in the postseason was embarrassing.
