Jose Trevino Comments On Yankees Fans’ Postseason Antics
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Playing for a professional sports team based in New York City brings many things.

It can bring joy, passion, intensity, and excitement.

But playing in New York also means that you’ll hear it from the home crowd when things aren’t going your way.

Such was the case in the ALCS, when fans of the New York Yankees showered their team with boos after they were swept by the Houston Astros.

Several players, including Astros closer Ryan Pressly, spoke out against Yankees fans for booing the team, and particularly, American League MVP Aaron Judge.

Jose Trevino, the team’s Gold Glove catcher commented on the matter and chalked it up to the fans wanting to see championship-caliber play and the team expecting that out of themselves.

“It’s the New York Yankees. We expect to win championships and so do the fans,” he said.

Trevino Comments On Playing In New York

Playing in New York means playing under the microscope and dealing with intense scrutiny from both fans and media members alike.

Trevino personally doesn’t seem to take any offense to it, even after rumors of Yankees players being frustrated with fans for booing them.

The 30-year-old Gold Glover and Platinum Glove Award winner was one of New York’s key contributors in 2022, being one of six Yankee players to earn a spot on the AL All-Star roster.

The Yankees won 99 games and took home the AL East title.

They ultimately collapsed in the ALCS, which prompted the boos from the crowd.

But it seems that Trevino isn’t bothered by it and continues to enjoy playing in New York.
