Braves release infielder as spring training comes to a close
Adeiny Hechavarria Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

According to MILB transactions, the Braves have released veteran infielder Adeiny Hechavarria.

Hechavarria had some nice moments with the Braves in 2019 and 2020, but he hasn’t been on a major league roster since then and was a long shot to be included coming out of camp. He only had two hits in 14 at-bats this spring raining and was ultimately beaten out by Ehire Adrianza, who will serve as the team’s utility infielder and backup to Orlando Arcia.

We’ll see what Hechavarria decides to do next. Perhaps he opts to stick around as organizational depth. The Braves could use it in case there is an injury early in the season. However, he’s 34 years old and hasn’t played in the majors in over two years. It’s very possible Adeiny Hechavarria sees it as time to hang it up for good.
