The Iowa Hawkeyes have more punts than points so far this season

Iowa football can sometimes be exciting. If you like stout defense, a strong running game, and a conservative football mentality, the Hawkeyes are the team for you. '

If you like offense, though? If you're into a high-flying passing attack and points upon points upon points on the board? Iowa's not for you.

Well, at least the 2022 team isn't.

Iowa's offense has been anemic through two games, and that's putting it lightly.

How does one explain just how terrible Iowa's offense has been? We could talk about watching paint dry or trying to run a marathon in quicksand, but this stat from Brett McMurphy paints an even better picture:

The Hawkeyes beat their Week 1 opponent, South Dakota State, 7-3.

Two safeties and a field goal led to those seven points. Iowa's punter, Tory Taylor, had more punting yards (479) than Iowa's offense had total yards (166).

In Week 2, the Hawkeyes lost to rival Iowa State by a score of 10-7. Though Iowa did find the end zone once, the Hawks put up only 150 total yards of offense and went 3-of-11 on third downs.

Not great, Bob. Not great.
