NCAAF betting: Top 5 best bets for Week 10

Last week was a losing week (it happens). USC got the win but things were way too close in their game against Cal. Ugh, those guys are frustrating. This week it feels like the focus is not on the field as much with College Football Playoff rankings coming out, and all the Michigan stuff. Plus college hoops starts on Monday too. Maybe we can sneak some wins while the books are not looking.

Results to date:

Last week: 2-3

Season to Date: 24-20-1

Best bets for Saturday, Nov. 4

Nebraska @ Michigan State
Noon ET
Cornhuskers -3

I never thought I would want to back Nebraska a couple of weeks in a row (they won last week FYI). They are definitely in better shape than MSU right now though and seem built to win close games. This is about 50/50 in terms of backing the Huskers and fading the Spartans. There is no leadership for Sparty and this season was lost a long time ago. Nebraska can clinch a bowl game with a win and thus should be highly motivated.

Betting takeaway ... Make sure you get a good number here. The Huskers are far from a lock.

Iowa @ Northwestern
3:30 p.m. ET
Hawkeyes -5

Things are not pretty for Iowa at this stage of the season, not with all of the Brian Ferentz out at the end of the season stuff. That does not change the fact that the Hawkeyes defense should be able to lock up Northwestern enough that even 17 points should get them a win and cover on the road in this spot. Iowa is 4-1-1 in their wins this season.

Betting takeaway ... I hope this number takes a tumble from its current position. That said, a 17-10 win (as lame as that it would be) on the road feels right and would cash.

Kansas @ Iowa State
7 p.m. ET

Kansas +2.5

Kansas has to be overrated coming into this week. That win over Oklahoma was awesome and after watching a good chunk of the game I do not see it as a fluke. They have players in Lawrence, on both sides of the ball. Head coach Lance Leipold has his work cut out for him this week keeping his players were they need to be, but he is one of the best coaches in America. So is iowa State's Matt Campbell, but he does not have much to work with this season.

Betting takeaway ... I might even go Moneyline here. Kansas either wins outright or falls flat and I am leaning to the former.

Washington @ USC
7:30 p.m. ET
Over 76.5

There is no doubt that Washington is going to score points at USC this weekend. They are probably going to win too but the total was more inviting than the side. If it is competitive, that probably means both teams trading scores all night long, but if the Huskies are not overly challenged they are going to want to put on as much of a show as possible to get the attention of the playoff committee (and Heisman voters). Dropping 50+ is sure to get some eyeballs.

Betting takeaway ... We have seen five straight unders in the series but USC is 8-1 O/U this season. Hopefully, we get a little relief from the books before this night game kicks off.

UCLA @ Arizona
10:30 p.m. ET
UCLA -2.5

UCLA head coach Chip Kelly is having a very nice season at UCLA. Yes, they have a couple of losses, but they are eighth in points allowed and 13th in yards on offense (they just need the points to follow). They are a very balanced team and Arizona, while improved, is likely a bit overrated right now after back-to-back impressive wins. They have four games to get the additional win they need to get bowl eligible too. They are going to fall short on Saturday night.

Betting takeaway ... This is the last game of the day on Saturday. That means there is actually still a lot of time. I wouldn't wait for it.
