A couple hours after news broke that June Jones declined Hawaii's offer to return for a second stint as the team's head coach, he explained his qualms with the job offer on Twitter.
Jones, 68, claims the university offered him only a two-year contract and attempted to dictate whom he could hire to fill out his staff.
So I would like to comment and give my thoughts on the Football Head Coaching job..I am still interested in this job for the people of Hawaii but the job offered to me today there is no way I could accept with the conditions offered me …No coach in their right mind would accept!

Dictating who can be on my staff and only 2 year contract..What recruit would come if I was here for 2 years???..this has never been about money-but it is about giving me the ability to turn our program around and not have people tell me who is on my staff or how to coach my team

Hawaii is on the hunt for a new head football coach after Todd Graham resigned from the position amid allegations he verbally abused players. Jones wasted no time tossing his name into the mix, telling KHON in Honolulu, "I know I can do [the job] again."
Jones was the head coach for Hawaii from 1999 to 2007. The Rainbow Warriors had a 76-41 record during his tenure and earned a trip to the 2008 Sugar Bowl. Hawaii finished No. 10 in the AP Poll at the end of the 2007 regular season under Jones, its highest ranking in school history.
